HARRISBURG - Rep. Brad Roae (R-Crawford/Erie) issued the following statement in response to the almost $47.6 billion Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget approved today:
“I voted no on this reckless, 6%-spending-increase budget. Most local households are not taking in 6% more now than a year ago. We should not spend taxpayer money faster than people can earn it.
“All 50 states have schools, roads, welfare programs, medical programs, courts, state parks, etc., but many states have lower state and local tax rates and still do all of these things.
“It’s not as bad as the governor’s original proposal in February, but it still spends away a lot of the surplus and puts us at risk of a tax increase in the near future.”
