HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania state Rep. Brad Roae (R-Crawford/Erie), who serves on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Board of Governors, today issued the following statement after the board met online Wednesday and voted to freeze tuition rates at the 14 state-owned universities for the 2020-21 school year:

“With all the economic and financial issues caused by COVID-19, many students and families could not afford a tuition increase, so my colleagues on the board and I acted to freeze tuition rates. This is the second year in a row we have frozen tuition rates to keep down the cost of acquiring a higher education. I want the state-owned universities to remain an affordable option for students from working-class families in Pennsylvania.”
