
Rep. Brad Roae held a Meadville town hall meeting, which provided constituents from the district a chance to ask questions and receive answers about state government and the Pennsylvania budget.

Members of the state House Timber Caucus toured the Domtar paper mill in Johnsonburg on Thursday, Jan. 27, as part of an examination of Pennsylvania's forest industry. The Johnsonburg facility is the biggest mill owned by the Domtar Corporation, the largest integrated producer of uncoated free sheet paper in North America and the second largest in the world based on production capacity. Rep. Brad Roae attended the Northwestern Rural Electric Cooperative Association Inc. picnic and meeting at the Crawford County Fairgrounds, where he met with constituents and handed out information about state government programs and services.

Rep. Rep. Roae held a town hall meeting at the West Mead Township Building, where constituents had an opportunity to ask questions about the state budget, government reforms, economic policies and other state government-related issues.

Rep. Roae (center), along with Reps. Curt Schroder (R-Chester) and Matt Baker (R-Tioga), at podium, attended a rally at the state Capitol in Harrisburg in support of Health Care Choice Legislation. House Bill 2053, sponsored by Baker, would preserve individual rights to not take part in a government-run health care plan, and would work to preserve the patient-doctor relationship. House Bill 2179 proposes an amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution protecting a citizen’s right to choose his or her own health care and to purchase health care insurance from the company of his or her choice.

Rep. Roae adressed students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades at the French Creek Valley Christian School in Saegertown. Roae spoke with the students about government issues.

Rep. Roae participated in a House Republican Policy Committee hearing where lawmakers listened to expert testimony raising concerns about the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s attempt to toll Interstate 80. The hearing focused on the commission’s resubmission of its application to the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) to turn I-80 into a toll road. Two previous applications submitted by the commission have been rejected by the FHA. Lawmakers heard testimony from Brian F. Chase an expert and independent consultant who works on public-private partnerships and toll road initiatives. Chase questioned a fair market valuation analysis conducted by a firm called Provident Capital Advisors that was submitted as part of the revised application. Chase noted that the firm has no prior experience in the field of road finance projects.

Rep. Brad Roae spoke at an event saluting soldiers serving with the Pennsylvania National Guard's Stryker Brigade in the 1st Battalion, 112th Infantry on Sept. 25. The soldiers recently returned from a tour of duty in the Middle East. The welcome-home ceremony was held at the Cambridge Springs High School.
On Tuesday, June 23, it was my honor to join fellow Crawford County Reps. Michele Brooks and John Evans in presenting the current Pennsylvania dairy princess, LeeAnn Kapanick, to the state House of Representatives. Ms. Kapanick is a recent graduate of Saegertown High School and lives with her family in Crawford County.
Ms. Kapanick addressed the House, urging lawmakers to work together to help Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers. Agriculture is the number one industry in Pennsylvania, and the dairy industry is the largest segment of agriculture. The dairy industry generates $1.56 billion in on-farm revenue and $4.4 billion in economic activity annually. Click here for more pictures.
